Abstract

Penilitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari penggunaan hydrophobic coating pada permukaan rudder kapal perikanan terhadap resistance akibat korosi. Penelitian
dilakukan menggunakan eksperimen pada tiga rudder dengan perlakuan yang berbeda-beda pada perendaman dalam bak berisi air laut dengan salinitas 35 PPT dalam kurun waktu 2 minggu, 4 minggu, dan 6 minggu. Kemudian hasil disajikan melalui tabel dan grafik yang dilengkapi dengan pembahasan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ialah berupa, terdapat pengaruh waktu dan laju korosi serta kehilangan berat yang berbeda pada percobaan rudder tanpa coating, rudder dengan coating anti korosi dan rudder dengan hydrophobic coating. Rudder dengan hydrophobic coating memiliki nilai laju korosi dan kehilangan berat lebih kecil dibandingkan dua rudder lainnya. Hal tersebut membuktikan bahwa hydrophobic coating mampu mencegah atau mengurangi terjadinya resistance akibat korosi pada rudder kapal perikanan, serta mampu melindungi rudder dari korosi dan memperpanjang umur pemakaian rudder kapal perikanan.

This research aims to determine the effect of using a hydrophobic coating on the rudder surface of a fishing boat on resistance due to corrosion. The study was conducted using experiments on three rudders with different treatments in a tub filled with seawater with a salinity of 35 PPT for 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 6 weeks. Then the results are presented through tables and graphs equipped with descriptive discussion. The results of the research show that there is an effect of time and corrosion rate as well as different weight loss in the rudder without coating, rudder with anti-corrosion coating and rudder with hydrophobic coating. The rudder with hydrophobic coating has a lower corrosion rate and weight loss compared to the other two rudders. This proves that the hydrophobic coating is able to prevent or reduce the occurrence of resistance due to corrosion on the fishing boat rudder, and is able to protect the rudder from corrosion and extend the service life of the fishing boat rudder.
