Abstract

The Tapin Dam was inaugurated on January 18, 2021. This dam was built to meet the needs of raw water, irrigation water, power plants, as well as for flood management in South Kalimantan Province. Tapin Dam is a dam with the type of Upright Core Stone Pile with the main dam height as high as 70 meters. Tapin Dam has several complementary buildings, one of which is a spillway. The spillway used is a side spillway, but it is causes a hydrodynamic load in the form of impact and causes vibration. The frontal or direct spillway type of spillway can be used to eliminate impact and vibration problems.
Based on these problems, this final project will be carried out to plan the redesign of the overflow at Tapin Dam by using the direct transfer type along with other complementary buildings such as guide channel, control channel, launch channel, stilling basin, and end channel.
Planning begins with conducting a hydrological analysis by calculating the planned rainfall using the Pearson Type III method. Then proceed with the compatibility test of the frequency distribution using the Chi-Square and Kolmogorov-Smirnov methods so that the results that meet the two compatibility tests are obtained. For the calculation of the planned flood discharge, in this plan the Nakayasu Synthetic Unit Hydrograph (HSS) method will be used, then proceed with flood tracking analysis. The design flood discharge was found to be 1767 m3/sec. Meanwhile, from the results of the flood routing, it was found that the overflow discharge was 838.41 m3/s.
From the results of the hydraulics analysis that has been carried out, it is planned to build a front spillway with Ogee crest, and with upstream height of 3.5 meters high and 40 meters wide. The results of the stability analysis of the planned weir crest showed satisfactory results, where the crest was declared safe against the dangers of seepage, cracking, overturning, shearing, and the bearing capacity of the soil.
