Abstract

Tourism is a major driver of economic sectors in a region. According to Bank Indonesia's (2012) sector of the tourism sector is a major driver of economic growth in East Java. According to the publication BPS (2013), East Java province has the most number of tourist arrivals compared to other provinces as many as 15 541 people / day of total 107.045orang/hari who visited Indonesia. This study was conducted to determine the factors thought to affect the GDP of East Java tourism sector using nonparametric regression spline. Modeling results obtained spline nonparametric regression models that produce the best R 2 of 71,86%. The factors that significantly influence the GDP of East Java tourism sector is percentage of travelers who visited, pecentage of attractions, income per capita, percentage of toursm traveler, and percentage of the hotel.
