Abstract

CaOMgO have been synthesized of lime powder using coprecipitation method with 0.075 M NaOH and Na2CO3 0.075 as precipitating agent. Solid were calcination in temperature variations (500, 700, 900 º C) to characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). CaOMgO are used as catalysts in oil transesterification with methanol and kemiri sunan oil. Optimation of yield can obtained from the transesterification reaction using variation ratio methanol oil (9:1; 26:1; 54:1), variations in the concentration of catalyst (2, 4, 8 wt% oil) and catalyst calcination temperature variations (500, 700, 900 º C). Methyl esters were analyzed using gas chromatography (GC). Results showed that the highest yield obtained from reaction using methanol oil ratio of 9:1, catalyst concentration of 2%, and the catalyst calcination temperature of 900 º C with 37% yield.
