Abstract

Remazol Brilliant Blue R. adsorption using activated carbon from bidara arab leaves (ziziphus spina-christi): optimization using rsm-ccd has been done. RBBR is a synthetic dye used in Putat Jaya Batik House. Batik dye waste can cause pollution, thus it is necessary to process the waste to reduce its concentration. Adsorption is one of the effective methods to lower the dyes concentration. RBBR adsorption with bidara arab leaves carbon activated with H2SO4 as adsorbent. Activated carbon will be characterized using Fourier transform Infrared (FTIR), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), dan Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET). Adsorption will be carried out with parameters, pH (2; 4; 6), contact time (60; 120; 180 minutes), adsorbent dose (25; 50; 75 mg), and initial dye concentration (100; 200; 300 ppm). The adsorption will be carried out using the batch method, with stirring speed 450 rpm, volume 25 ml, and 32 design variations that were made using the RSM-CCD. The adsorption results will be measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at the maximum wavelength of RBBR, 595 nm. Optimum conditions were achieved at a contact time of 180 minutes, adsorbent dose of 75 mg, concentration of 100 mg/L, and pH 2 with %removal reaching 98.694%, and adsorption capacity of 35.67 mg/g.
