Abstract

Sei Wain Road located in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan is one of the roads in Indonesia built on a slope. Sei Wain road KM 15+00 (about 100 meters long) has a lower elevation than the surrounding area because the road is built on a natural slope located on the edge of a valley. Based on the soil test results, the Sei Wain KM 15+00 roadside has a soil condition dominated by clay with an N-SPT value of 60 at a depth of 10-12 meters. With these soil conditions, the Sei Wain KM 15+00 roadside is not expected to experience landslides. However, in fact, landslides occurred on the Sei Wain KM 15+00 road. The landslide occurred on the roadside area located on the edge of the valley, precisely in sections 2 to section 6. This is suspected to cause landslides on the Sei Wain KM 15+00 roadside are cracked soil, cracks in the soil that cause rainwater to enter the cracks, and the absence of drainage channels in the road area. Based on the discussion result, the main cause of the landslide on the Sei Wain KM 15+00 section 2 to section 6 is cracked soil using the behaving like sand approach. Then, the reinforcement to be used from 4 reinforcement plans, namely geotextile, bored pile, micropile, and gabion, based on the ease of implementation is a combination of bored piles with gabions.
