Abstract

Indonesia as a country situated at the convergence of active tectonic plates and surrounded by active mountains or the Ring of Fire, provides advantages such as fertile land and a tropical climate. However, these advantages can also pose threats when nature is not in a stable state, making certain areas in Indonesia vulnerable to natural disasters. The impacts are not only material and human losses, but also damage to crucial infrastructure, including communication networks. Communication breakdowns in critical conditions undoubtedly hinder rescue and recovery efforts. This research focuses on the design of communication scenarios based on Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) as a post-disaster communication solution using the NS-3 simulator with the proactive routing protocols OLSR and DSDV, along with an analysis of their performance in scenarios involving the addition of nodes, considering Packet Loss, Throughput, and Delay parameters, which will be compared based on the TIPHON QoS standards. The experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of the OLSR routing over DSDV, with the best average throughput of 2292,57 Kbps, a delay of 76,98 ms, and a packet loss of 0,12% for a scenario with 150 nodes. This study is expected to provide an alternative solution for the development of reliable post-disaster emergency communication networks, contributing to rescue and recovery efforts in the aftermath of disasters.
