Abstract

The development of IKN Nusantara (Indonesia's New Capital City) in phase I, 2022-2024, focuses on basic infrastructure development. One of the infrastructure developments currently underway is the IKN Toll Road Segment 3A Karangjoang - KKT Kariangau (STA 14+000 - STA 25+909) that connected to the Balikpapan - Samarinda Toll Road. This development will add back to Indonesia's infrastructure assets, especially the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing. One of the main works in the construction of this toll road is excavation and embankment work, the need for a lot of embankment material is a problem in itself so the excavated soil as much as possible is sought to become embankment soil with additional reinforcement of geotextile stabilizers class 1. The Utilization of excavated soil to be used as backfill material is the research topic of this thesis. Efforts to mix excavated soil with fly ash and bottom ash materials sourced from Balikpapan steam power plant is one form of soil stabilization experiment. Fly ash material that has been tested by XRF (X-ray fluorescence) is classified as class F fly ash. From the results of the density test (standard proctor) of mixing the excavated soil with fly ash and bottom ash materials, it was found that the mixture material with the largest maximum dry density was found in the soil mixture material + FA 10% (fly ash content 10%) with a γd max value of 1.693 gr/cm3, soil mixture material + BA 15% (bottom ash content 15%) with a γd max value of 1.812 gr/cm3 and soil mixture material + FABA 10% (fly ash + bottom ash content 10%) with a γd max value of 1.691 gr/cm3. The three mixed materials are the reference for the next test, namely soaked CBR testing with 0, 7 and 14 days of curing. Based on the results of the soaked CBR test, the soaked CBR value of the mixed material shows a negative trend with results where the mixed material gets a smaller value than the soaked CBR test value of the excavated soil without a mixture. Especially the soil + 10% FABA mixture material whose soaked CBR value continues to decrease as the length of the curing is carried out. The highest soaked CBR test result was only obtained at 6.013% from soil mixture + BA 15% without curing and the lowest value was obtained at 0.709% from soil mixture + FABA 10% with curing for 14 days. The experimental results were then entered into the calculation of overall stability with the Plaxis 2D auxiliary program. From the calculation of embankment construction with embankment material using excavated soil, soil + FA 10%, soil + BA 15%, and soil + FABA 10% showed stable results and did not collapse. However, due to the negative trend that occurred during the soaked CBR test and the average soaked CBR value below 6%, the mixed material is still not recommended for use.
