Abstract

=================================================================================================================================
The software "In-Service Piping Inspection" developed in this final project is designed to comply with API 570 and API 574 requirements. It encompasses essential functions such as storing and analyzing actual thickness readings, calculating short and long-term corrosion rates, retirement dates, MAWP, and inspection intervals. Moreover, the software is capable of identifying areas with high corrosion rates, late-inspection piping circuits, and pipelines approaching the minimum required thickness. The research successfully resulted in the In-Service Piping Inspection software, which underwent testing through 52 scenarios. The functions specified in API 570 sub-section 7.9.4 Computer Record (4th Edition - 2016) were well-implemented, evident through features presented on the "thickness," "cml thickness," "cml trend," and "piping trend" pages to meet requirement a) of sub-section 7.9.4. Additionally, features on the "piping assets," "thickness," and "cml thickness" pages were used to fulfill requirement b) of sub-section 7.9.4. For requirement c) of sub-section 7.9.4, features on the "thickness" and "cml thickness" pages, along with sorting features on MAWP, min required thickness, and corrosion rate, were successfully applied. Consequently, this in-service piping inspection software developed in the study has the potential to assist in inspecting operational piping effectively. It can efficiently store, analyze, and provide crucial information regarding actual thickness, corrosion rate, retirement date, MAWP, and inspection intervals. The software's ability to mark areas requiring special attention also aids in making informed decisions regarding pipeline system maintenance and upkeep.
