Abstract

Nilam (Pogostemon cablin Benth) adalah tanaman herbal aromatik yang dibudidaya untuk menghasilkan minyak atsiri yang bernilai tinggi dan juga merupakan salah satu tanaman obat di Indonesia. Senyawa utama dari tanaman P. cablin adalah patchouli alkohol. Pada penelitian ini, distilasi minyak atsiri menggunakan metode steam-water distillation dan hydrodistillation. Bagian tanaman P. cablin yang diteliti yaitu semua bagian, daun, daun cincang, daun halus, batang, dan batang halus. Distilasi nilam (Pogostemon Cablin Benth) Aceh menggunakan metode hydrodistillation bagian daun memiliki randemen yang paling tinggi yaitu sebesar 4.52%. Namun, kandungan patchouli alkohol paling tinggi terdapat pada variabel patchouli essential oil (PEO) dengan metode hydrodistillation pada semua bagian (LHA) yaitu sebesar 75.65%. Uji aktivitas asam urat yang sudah dilakukan terhadap beberapa variabel PEO menunjukkan penghambatan yang sangat kecil dibandingkan dengan kontrol positif yang digunakan, yaitu allopurinol dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 8.20 μg/mL. Pentingnya dilakukan penelitian secara ilmiah pada tanaman penghasil minyak atsiri dan tanaman obat tropis ini.

Nilam (Pogostemon cablin Benth), one of the medical plants in Indonesia, is an aromatic herbal plant cultivated to produce high-value essential oil. The main compound of the P. cablin plant is patchouli alcohol. In this research, essential oil distillation uses steam-water distillation and hydrodistillation methods. The parts of the P. cablin plant studied were all parts, leaves, chopped leaves, smooth leaves, stems, and smooth stems. Distillation of nilam (Pogostemon Cablin Benth) Aceh using the hydrodistillation method of the leaves had the highest yield, 4.52%. However, the highest patchouli alcohol content is found in the patchouli essential oil (PEO) variable using the hydrodistillation method in all parts (LHA), 75.65%. The uric acid activity test that was carried out on several PEO variables showed very little inhibition compared to the positive control used, namely allopurinol with an IC50 value of 8.20 μg/mL. It is important to carry out scientific research on plants that produce essential oils and tropical medicinal plants.
