Abstract

The mining industry, with its high accident risk, requires strengthened practices in workplace safety. PT Vale Indonesia Tbk., a mining company, is committed to enhancing safety compliance through structured training. However, workplace accidents in the company are often caused by human behavior. Furthermore, in the literature review, it was found that there is no safety training model integrated with empirically tested Knowledge Management. Safety training emerges as key, providing knowledge and motivation for safe behaviors. The Knowledge Management System enhances knowledge transfer and reinforces safety measures. This research contributes by examining additional safety training variables from the employees' perception perspective, including Safety Training Transfer, Safety Training Engagement, Safety Training Design, and Trainee Conditions in assimilating safety learning. The aim is to elucidate the relationship between Safety Training variables, Knowledge Management System, and Safety Compliance, using a quantitative descriptive approach and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The conceptual model, derived from systematic literature reviews and industrial interviews, consists of 6 variables and 25 indicators. Findings indicate that safety training aspects closely related to employees' perspectives show significant direct and indirect positive relationships with increased safety compliance facilitated by the Knowledge Management System. Practical implications of this research include the development of more effective training strategies and the enhancement of knowledge management system interfaces to support workplace safety practices in the company.
