Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) or Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a disease of kidney disorders, kidney function, and a progressive decrease in the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) with treatments that can be given, namely Hemodialysis. Conductivity is a physical quantity to measure the concentration of dissolved chemicals in dialysate. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of differences in dialysate fluid conductivity on hemoglobin levels, hematocrit, erythrocyte count, and differential leukocyte count of test animals (Rattus norvegicus). The method used in this study is sub-chronic for 28 days and injection (IV) using 3 dialysate fluids with different conductivities. Then the calculation of Hemoglobin level using Hb meter, calculation of erythrocyte cell count using Hemacytometer, and calculation of differential leukocyte cell count using blood smear method. The results of this study show that differences in the conductivity of dialysate fluid cause fluctuations in hemoglobin and hematocrit levels and the number of erythrocytes. The difference in dialysate fluid conductivity also causes an increase in the number of differential leukocytes of basophil and lymphocyte types and does not affect the number of eosinophils, neutrophils, and monocytes characterized by numbers that are still within the normal range.
