Abstract

The research was conducted to investigate the effects of solidity and blade aspect ratio on the performance of a vertical-axis hydrokinetic turbine of the H-Darrieus type. The study utilized three variations of solidity, namely 0.48, 0.6, and 0.75, and for the blade aspect ratio, variations of 4, 5, and 6.25 were employed. The experiments were carried out in a flume tank with flow velocities of 0.29 m/s, 0.34 m/s, and 0.39 m/s. The results of this experiment indicate that a solidity of 0.6 exhibited the best performance compared to other solidity values. There was an increase in the coefficient of performance (
