Abstract

Performance-based seismic design studies using the Direct-Displacement Based Design approach of the Single-Degree-of-Freedom equivalent system method, based on the first modes, have been widely conducted in Indonesia. However, there are still minimum studies testing the Direct-Displacement Based Design of the Multiple-Degree-of-Freedom equivalent system that can capture the influence of four modes. This research aims to test the seismic performance-based design using the Direct-Displacement Based Design approach of the Multiple-Degree-of-Freedom equivalent system method proposed by Muho et al. (2020). Three-dimensional eccentric braced steel frame structures are chosen as the study subjects. Verification is conducted using nonlinear modal time history analysis. The test results indicate that the Direct-Displacement Based Design of the Multiple-Degree-of-Freedom equivalent system still exhibits good accuracy. Additionally, this study reveals that nonlinear modal time history analysis provides excellent time efficiency with an acceptable percentage error.
