Abstract

Simplisitas dan kompleksitas adalah dua konsep yang kerap kali muncul dalam perancangan arsitektur. Konsep simplisitas dan kompleksitas ini memiliki dampak yang signifikan dalam cara manusia memandang dan mengalami lingkungan binaan. Marcel Breuer, Robert Venturi, dan Vittorio Gregotti merupakan beberapa tokoh yang menyampaikan teori terkait simplisitas dan kompleksitas dalam arsitektur (Smith, 2012). Dialektika teori yang disampaikan oleh tokoh-tokoh diatas mengenai bagaimana seharusnya arsitektur ditampilkan ini lah yang menjadi isu utama perancangan kali ini. Perancangan tugas akhir ini mencoba memecahakan masalah penerapan kompleksitas dan simplisitas dalam sebuah karya perancangan arsitektur. Secara lebih khusus membahas permasalahan pengolahan tektonika untuk dapat menampilkan kompleksitas identitas melalui simplisitas pada kantor kedutaan besar asing di Indonesia. Permasalahan rancang tersebut akan coba diselesaikan berlandaskan teori pada buku "Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture" karya Robert Venturi dan tulisan Vittorio Gregotti bertajuk "On Simplicity". Peracangan akan menggunakan pendekatan generate form concept sedangkan untuk metode rancang akan mengunakan metode analisis stilistika arsitektur yang didasari pada buku “A History of Architecture on the Comparative Method” karya Banister Fletcher, metode analisis dan kajian tektonika berdasarkan pada buku “Introducing Architectural Tectonics” karya Chad schwartz dan metode penggubahan bentuk menggunakan generative method yang dijelaskan dalam buku “Basic Design Methods” karya Kari Jormakka. Dengan pendekatan dan metode tersebut diharapkan dapat menghasilkan rancangan yang memberikan bentuk arsitektur baru namun tetap memberikan kesan dan kekhasan dari kedua negara

Simplicity and complexity are two concepts that often appear in architectural design. These concepts of simplicity and complexity have a significant impact on the way humans perceive and experience the built environment. Marcel Breuer, Robert Venturi, and Vittorio Gregotti are several figures who conveyed theories related to simplicity and complexity in architecture (Smith, 2012). The dialectical theory conveyed by the figures above regarding how architecture should be displayed is the main issue in this design. The design of this final project tries to solve the problem of applying complexity and simplicity in an architectural design work. More specifically, discussing the problem of tectonic processing to be able to display the complexity of identity through simplicity at foreign embassy offices in Indonesia. This design problem will be tried to be solved based on the theory in the book "Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture" by Robert Venturi and Vittorio Gregotti's article entitled "On Simplicity". The design will use the generate form concept approach, while the design method will use the architectural stylistic analysis method which is based on the book "A History of Architecture on the Comparative Method" by Banister Fletcher, the tectonic analysis and study method is based on the book "Introducing Architectural Tectonics" by Chad schwartz and the method of creating shapes using the generative method described in the book "Basic Design Methods" by Kari Jormakka. With this approach and method, it is hoped that we can produce a design that provides a new architectural form but still gives the impression and uniqueness of the two countries
