Abstract

This research describes system integration between fossil energy generators and renewable energy generators (EBT) as a crucial approach in meeting energy needs. In 2022, Selayar Island will implement an integrated hybrid electricity system between Diesel Power Plants (PLTD) and Solar Power Plants (PLTS). However, operational challenges arise, especially in managing efficient operating patterns for PLTD units while considering overall system reliability. This research involves developing an operations design using the Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) method with a focus on generator scheduling. The simulation is carried out based on the specified rotating reserve scenario. The simulation results present relevant data, including economic aspects such as start-up costs and operational costs, as well as system reliability. Scenario analysis shows that implementing a rotating reserve limit of 15% has a positive impact on operating costs and reliability of generating units. Thus, this research provides recommendations to operators for planning plant operations between PLTD and PLTS on Selayar Island. It is hoped that the conclusions of this research can provide practical guidance for stakeholders in increasing efficiency, reducing operating costs, and increasing system reliability in the context of the integration of fossil and renewable energy
