Abstract

The Sorbitol Powder Plant (SPP) department at PT Sorini Towa Berlian Corporindo is a producer of Sorbitol powder using Sorbitol LTS (Low Total Sugar) raw material produced by the Sorbitol Liquid Plant (SLP) department. SPP faces significant challenges regarding the reject product rate (reject ratio), especially at the Pulse Air Collector (PAC) reject product outlet. Currently, the rejected products are only remelted and sent back to SLP for reprocessing due to their high contamination levels, as evidenced by quality testing results. This research aims to find a solution to utilize the reject products from PAC 18 and PAC 26 as raw materials. The methods applied in this research include Filtration and Agitation. The research results indicate that product contamination can be reduced through filtration with a 0.5-micron pore size and agitation at 750 rpm at a temperature of 65 °C for 60 minutes. The data from the research are then applied to the project design. The project execution has been successfully realized, as evidenced by the quality of PAC 18 and PAC 26 products that have been managed in accordance with quality requirements as raw materials. This success can reduce raw material consumption and enhance production efficiency in the SPP department.
