Abstract

Educational Technology (EdTech) merupakan salah satu contoh dari investasi teknologi informasi di dunia pendidikan. EdTech diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas mengajar dan meningkatkan proses pembelajaran dengan memanfaatkan berbagai jenis kemajuan teknologi. Sayangnya dunia pendidikan sering menghadapi ketidakpastian di tiap masanya. Salah satu contoh ketidakpastian yang saat ini sedang dihadapi yaitu kondisi pandemi COVID-19. Walaupun mengalami ketidakpastian, proses investasi terhadap EdTech diketahui meningkat tajam saat pandemi COVID-19. Secara global pasar EdTeh diperkirakan akan naik hingga 16,4% pertahunnya sampai tahun 2025. Sasaran tertinggi EdTech di Indonesia saat ini yaitu pada lingkungan sekolah menengah sederajat. Selain ketidakpastian, investasi pada EdTech juga dihadapkan oleh faktor-faktor yang lain yang dapat mempengaruhi proses perumusannya. Munculnya kecenderungan bias perilaku, misalnya optimisme atau pesimisme yang dilakukan oleh pembuat keputusan (decision-maker) mengenai dampak penggunaan teknologi dapat mempengaruhi proses pembuatan keputusan (decision-making) investasi. Alternatif-alternatif investasi yang dipilih saat proses seleksi pun juga mampu mempengaruhi proses investasi yang dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelaraskan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pembuatan keputusan investasi EdTech, sehingga pihak yang melakukan investasi dapat mengetahui ketepatan pilihan investasi yang dilakukan. Pengambil keputusan disaat pandemi COVID-19 akan cenderung memiliki informasi yang kurang karena sifatnya yang lemah, sehingga pembuat keputusan harus berhati-hati dalam memilih pendekatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori keputusan (decision-theory) sebagai pedoman formal yang dapat meningkatkan kredibilitas pembuatan keputusan investasi. Selain itu metode kualitatif dengan jenis pendekatan fenomenologi dipilih untuk mengetahui pengalaman dan keterikatan subyek penelitian selama melakukan proses investasi EdTech. Hasil dari penelitian diaharapkan mampu memberikan wawasan (insight) bagi pembuat keputusan investasi EdTech bahwa ketidakpastian, bias perilaku, serta alternatif yang muncul saat proses investasi perlu untuk diperhatikan dalam menentukan investasi EdTech yang terbaik. Karena hingga saat ini dunia pendidikan masih sering mengalami ketidakpastian yang mengakibatkan pihak-pihak terkait harus lebih bijak dalam memilih produk investasi yang dapat dimanfaatkan dalam jangka waktu yang berkepanjangan. Kontribusi teoritis penelitian memberikan referensi berupa penyelarasan bias perilaku dan decision theory yang mana didalamnya dilakukan proses perhitungan dan deskripsi investasi, sehingga pembuat keputusan dapat menentukan pilihan investasi akhir disaat mengalami ketidakpastian yang lain di masa depan.

Educational Technology (EdTech) is an example of information technology investment in education. EdTech is expected to improve the quality of teaching and improve the learning process by utilizing various types of technological advances. Unfortunately, the world of education often faces uncertainty in every era. One example of this uncertainty is natural changes such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite experiencing uncertainty, the investment process for EdTech is known to have increased sharply during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in the middle school environment. Apart from uncertainty, investing in EdTech is also faced with other factors that can affect the process. The emergence of behavioural biases of optimism or pessimism carried out by decision-makers regarding the impact of using technology can affect the investment decision-making process. The investment alternatives chosen during the selection process can also influence the investment process. This study aims to align the factors that influence EdTech investment decision-making so that those who invest can know the accuracy of the investment choices made. Decision-makers during the COVID-19 pandemic will tend to have insufficient information due to its weak nature, so decision-makers must choose an approach carefully. This study uses decision theory as a formal guideline that can increase the credibility of investment decision-making. Besides that, a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach was chosen to find out the experience and engagement of the research subjects during the EdTech investment process. The research results are expected to provide insight for EdTech investment decision-makers that uncertainty, behavioural biases, and alternatives that arise during the investment process need to be considered in determining the best EdTech investment. Because until now, the world of education still often experiences uncertainty which results in related parties having to be wiser in choosing investment products that can be used for a prolonged period. The theoretical contribution of the research provides a reference in the form of alignment of behavioural biases and decision theory in which the investment calculation and description process is carried out so that decision-makers can determine the final investment choice when experiencing other uncertainties in the future.
