Abstract

Mango (Mangifera indica) is a tropical fruit that is very popular around the world due to its sweet taste and distinctive aroma. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), East Java is the province with the largest mango production in Indonesia in 2022. Mango fruit is a
horticultural product that has a type of product that is easily damaged due to the respiration process that occurs, so the shelf life is short. Therefore, storage efforts are made to extend the shelf life of these commodities from the time of harvest until later use. One of the common post-harvest handling techniques to overcome this problem is to store horticultural products using the Controlled Atmosphere Storage (CAS) method for handling O2, N2 and Ethylene Gas levels in accordance with ASHRAE product standards and specifications. This research uses DFRobot Gravity: I2C Oxygen Sensor, MQ3 ethylene sensor and Arduino Mega control base. In testing the CAS system works well and can maintain O2 and Ethylene gas conditions in mango fruit samples in storage in accordance with the requirements of mango fruit storage in ASHRAE Handbook Refrigeration (SI) for 5 days. The results of calibration testing obtained oxygen sensor accuracy of 98.63% and ethylene sensor accuracy MQ3 10% ppm. Testing O2 and C2H4 levels for the range of oxygen levels is 3% to <4% and the range of C2H4 levels is 250 ppm to 350 ppm. Comparison of actual values and set points during testing shows that the average error value of oxygen control is 22.83% and ethylene control is 19.6%.
