Abstract

Kontribusi sektor Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan menengah (UMKM) terhadap Produk Domestik Bruto (PDB) semakin meningkat dalam tahun 2011 – 2016. Selain itu, sektor UMKM juga telah membantu penyerapan tenaga kerja Indonesia. Salah satu sentra pengrajin kulit yang ada di Indonesia adalah kawasan Tanggulangin – Sidoarjo yang merupakan salah satu penghasil produk kulit terbesar di Jawa Timur. Terbukti dengan jumlah data UMKM yang ada di Jawa Timur, Sidoarjo menempati peringkat ke tiga setelah Surabaya dan Gresik. Sidoarjo juga dinobatkan sebagai “Kota UMKM Indonesia” karena keberhasilannya membina koperasi dan UMKM. Dalam hal tersebut, banyaknya produsen kulit di Tanggulangin menimbulkan beberapa dampak diantaranya muncul potongan kulit sisa hasil produksi. Hal ini cukup merugikan lingkungan, karena saat ini potongan kulit pada produsen disimpan di gudang penyimpanan atau dibakar. Selain itu produsen kulit belum bisa memaksimalkan material kulit hingga benar benar dianggap menjadi limbah. Inilah yang menjadi peluang tersendiri dalam memanfaatkan sisa potongan kulit menjadi sebuah produk. Berdasarkan latar belakang dan fenomena diatas, maka penulis melakukan observasi dalam mengembangkan UMKM dan memanfaatkan sisa potongan kulit yang dihasilkan oleh UMKM itu sendiri. Pada studi riset yang dilakukan, penulis berfokus pada pemanfaatan potongan kulit, serta mengajak atau memberdayakan UMKM untuk ikut berkontribusi dalam memanfaatkan sisa potongan kulit menjadi sebuah produk yang siap dijual. Sehingga dapat mengangkat nilai dari material potongan kulit. Berdasarkan tujuan diatas penulis melakukan identifikasi dengan menghasilkan modul pola potong dan pattern yang akan digunakan dalam kegiatan pelatihan terhadap UMKM. Hasil akhir dari perancangan ini adalah pemberdayaan UMKM yang ada di Tanggulangin - Sidoarjo dan desain produk fashion tas wanita menggunakan material utama sisa potongan kulit dengan teknik interwoven.

The contribution of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has increased in 2011-2016. In addition, the MSMEs sector has also assisted the absorption of Indonesian workers. One of the centers of leather craftsmen in Indonesia is the Tanggulangin - Sidoarjo area, which is one of the biggest producers of leather products in East Java. Evidenced by the number of MSME data in East Java, Sidoarjo ranks third after Surabaya and Gresik. Sidoarjo has also been named the "City of Indonesian MSMEs" because of its success in fostering cooperatives and MSMEs. In this case, the number of leather producers in Tanggulangin caused several impacts including the appearance of the remaining pieces of leather produced. This is quite detrimental to the environment, because at this time pieces of leather on producers are stored in warehouses or burned. Besides leather manufacturers have not been able to maximize the leather material until it is really considered to be a waste. This is a separate opportunity in utilizing the remaining pieces of leather into a product. Based on the background and phenomena above, the authors made observations in developing MSMEs and utilizing the remaining leather fragments produced by MSMEs themselves. In a research study conducted, the author focuses on the use of leather pieces, as well as inviting or empowering MSMEs to contribute in utilizing the remaining leather pieces into a product that is ready for sale. So that it can lift the value of the piece of leather material. Based on the above objectives the authors identify by producing a modul of cut patterns that will be used in training activities for MSMEs. The final result of this design is the empowerment of MSMEs in Tanggulangin - Sidoarjo and the design of women's fashion bag products using the main material of the remaining pieces of leather with interwoven techniques.
