Abstract

The 30 GT Purse Seine type fishing vessel belonging to the Maritime and Fisheries Service of the Situbondo Regional Government is equipped with an air conditioning system to cool the fish hold space, where each wall of the hold room is insulated with styrofoam. This insulating material is used because from an economic perspective it is cheap but is still considered less than optimal when viewed from the total cost. In this final project, optimizing the old design hatch space is replaced with a new design alternative for the cooling insulation section using polyurethane insulation material. Three variations of insulation thickness were chosen, namely 4 cm (design A), 8 cm (design B), and 12 cm (design C). These variations are used as data to calculate the cooling load, then the cooling system equipment is selected. From the insulation and cooling system equipment data, economic calculations are carried out using the Life Cycle Cost method which includes investment costs, operational costs (energy costs, maintenance and repair costs, replacement costs) and the used price of the equipment (saivage value). From the calculation results of each alternative design, the most optimal result based on the Life Cycle Cost value is design B with a profit of 22.98% from the old design.
