Abstract

The KM Napoleon uses a Refrigerated Sea Water (RSW) cooling system. Refrigeration with RSW was operated for 2 weeks and made the caught fish salty (salt content ~ 1%). Therefore, a system is needed to reduce salt levels before seawater enters the RSW. In this final project, it is planned that the sea water entering the RSW will have a salt content of 1%. To obtain the salt content, sea water and fresh water are mixed. This fresh water is produced using a distillation process with a heat transfer device for heating and condensation processes. In the calculation of the spiral fin tube type heat exchanger, the exhaust gas temperature input variations are carried out at 200°C, 250°C, 300°C, 350°C, 400°C. This variation is used to determine the dimensions of the heat exchanger as a reference for its placement in the ship. . From the results of calculations on variations in huang gas temperature, it was found that the largest dimensions were at the huang gas temperature variation of 400°C with a length of 1.27 m. The placement position of the heat exchanger is in a vertical position. Place the heat exchanger for the condenser in the engine room, while for the sea water heater it is in the exhaust gas pipe
