Abstract

Digital Transformation can have a positive impact on organizational productivity and efficiency, but it also brings high risks. There are various approaches and frameworks for managing DX, but most are based on ad-hoc observations rather than theory, not holistic, and need to be adjusted over time. Indonesia faces challenges in digital transformation, despite having the highest internet penetration in Asia, in 2022 Indonesia's digital ranking in the world was still low, at 51 out of 63 countries. The success of transformation in various sectors contributes to improving digital competitiveness. Therefore, precise strategies are needed to enhance digital success. However, practical guidelines and tools for monitoring the success of Digital Transformation are still limited. This research aims to identify various dimensions influencing the success of digital transformation in Indonesia, measurement tools for Digital Transformation success, and proposals to enhance digital competitiveness through the Grand Design of Digital Transformation. Exploration of various dimensions influencing transformation success is based on the perspective of General System Theory through the Qualitative Phenomenology method approach and artifact creation through the Design Science Research Methodology. This research went through the stages of triangulation process and Inter Coder Agreement test with a score of 0.96. The research findings revealed 7 dimensions and 32 sub-dimensions driving the success of Digital transformation in Indonesia, with the biggest challenge lying within the cultural dimension. The government sector faces greater challenges compared to other sectors. A Digital Maturity Model application with the adoption of SPICE maturity levels (ISO/IEC 3300XX) was generated to both monitor and provide recommendations for Digital Transformation achievement strategies. Sixty-two digital activities are proposed in the Grand Design to enhance digital competitiveness, categorized into three milestones. The research contributes to the literature on the success of Digital Transformation by involving various dimensions holistically, artifacts in the form of digital maturity measurement applications, and Grand Design to enhance transformation success. Ultimately, this research plays a significant role in supporting the acceleration of DX success through academic approaches, especially in Indonesia. On the practical side, this research provides holistic strategic guidelines, management recommendations, and ease of monitoring and evaluating Transformation status within organizations through the web-based DX-SAMM Application.
