Abstract

Kaltim Daya Mandiri (KDM) kedepannya.

PT Kaltim Daya Mandiri (KDM) is a utility and energy provider company that was established to meet the power supply needs of the production and housing facilities of PT. Pupuk Kaltim and companies located in the Kaltim Industrial Estate (KIE) area. Along with increasing industrial activity, PT Katim Daya Mandiri plans to develop a system with an additional 5 MW load in the East Tursina area. With these additions, of course, it causes an increase in short-circuit currents that trigger disturbances. One of the disturbances that may occur is the danger of arc flash, which can endanger workers in the factory and damage surrounding equipment. The development of the added load, planning and evaluation of the electrical system is needed because the reliability and safety of an electrical system are the main requirements that must be met, so arc studies must be carried out. The evaluation is carried out by calculating the incident energy according to the IEEE 1584-2002 and determining the requirements for protective clothing for workers or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) based on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E. Thus, it is hoped that the possibility of arcing in the electrical system can be minimized and can be taken into consideration for PT. Kaltim Daya Mandiri (KDM) in the future.
