Abstract

Stainless steel 316L adalah salah satu jenis paduan yang sering digunakan oleh industri karena memiliki sifat mekanik yang baik. Namun stainless steel 316L umumnya rentan mengalami peristiwa sensitisasi ketika terpapar di temperatur tinggi dalam jangka waktu tertentu. Peristiwa ini menyebabkan terjadinya pengendapan kromium karbida di wilayah batas butir sehingga terbentuk daerah chromium depleted zone sebagai akibatnya daerah ini menjadi mudah terserang korosi batas butir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh waktu pemanasan sensitisasi terhadap struktur mikro dan sifat mekanik pada spesimen stainless steel 316L di temperatur 600oC. Penelitian ini dipanaskan di dalam furnace dengan variasi waktu pemanasan sensitisasi yaitu 0, 5, dan 7 jam kemudian didinginkan dengan media pendinginan udara lalu dilakukan pengujian optical emission spectroscopy (OES), tarik, kekerasan, dan pengamatan metalografi. Hasil pengamatan metalografi menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh waktu pemanasan sensitisasi terhadap struktur mikro pada stainless steel 316L. Jenis struktur mikro mengalami perubahan ketika spesimen dipanaskan, yaitu dari step structure pada variasi waktu sensitisasi 0 dan 5 jam, menjadi dual structure pada variasi waktu sensitisasi 7 jam. Hasil pengujian tarik dan kekerasan juga menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh waktu pemanasan sensitisasi terhadap sifat mekanik pada stainless steel 316L. Nilai kekuatan tarik mengalami penurunan ketika spesimen dipanaskan dari 654,2835 MPa; 629,1105 MPa; 633,7255 MPa pada variasi waktu sensitisasi secara berturut-turut 0, 5, dan 7 jam. Selain itu, nilai kekuatan luluh juga mengalami penurunan ketika spesimen dipanaskan pada variasi waktu sensitisasi secara berturut-turut 0, 5, dan 7 jam, yaitu 435,534 MPa; 398,1965 MPa; 404,7255 MPa. Nilai keuletan juga mengalami penurunan secara berturut-turut ketika dipanaskan pada variasi waktu sensitisasi 0, 5, dan 7 jam, yaitu 48,61271%; 43,265784%; 44,17811%. Sedangkan, nilai kekerasan mengalami peningkatan seiring dengan bertambahnya waktu sensitisasi pada 0, 5, dan 7 jam, yaitu 217.18 HV; 223.86 HV; 226.78 HV.

Stainless steel 316L is a type of steel that is often used by industry because it has a good mechanical properties. However, stainless steel 316L is generally susceptible to sensitization phenomenon that occur when a stainless steel is exposed to high temperature for a certain period of time. This phenomenon causes the precipitation of chromium carbide in the grain boundary region and create chromium depleted zone which make this area susceptible to intergranular corrosion. The purpose of this test was to determine the microstructure and mechanical properties of the stainless steel 316L specimen. This research was heated in a furnace at a temperature of 600℃ with variations of sensitization time of 0, 5, and 7 hours and then cooled with air cooling media using optical emission spectroscopy (OES), tensile, hardness test, and metallographic observation. The results of metallography test indicate that there is an effect of sensitization time on the microstructure of stainless steel 316L. The structure type was change when the stainless steel 316L specimen was heated from step structure at a variation of sensitization time of 0 and 5 hours to dual structure at variation of sensitization time of 7 hours. In addition, the results of tensile and hardness tests show that there is an effect of sensitization time on the mechanical properties of stainless steel 316L. There was a decrease in the value of the tensile strength when the specimen was heated with variations of sensitization time of 0, 5, and 7 hours from 654.2835 MPa; 629.1105 MPa; 633,7255 MPa The yield strength value also decreased when the specimen was heated with variations of sensitization time of 0, 5, and 7 hours, from 435.534 MPa; 398.1965 MPa; 404.7255 MPa. Futhermore, the ductility value decreased when the specimen was heated with variations of sensitization time of 0, 5, and 7 hours from 48.61271%; 43,265784%; 44,17811%. However, the value of hardness was increased the specimen was heated with variations of sensitization time of 0, 5, and 7 hours, such as 217.18 HV; 223.86 HV
