Abstract

Subsea pipelines are one of the most frequently used means of transportation of crude oil, natural gas, and fluids. However, because the media passed by the pipeline is quite diverse in its operating life, the pipeline cannot be avoided from various potential dangers and risks. Some of the factors that can pose a risk to the pipeline come from external effects, the decrease or withdrawal of the ship's anchor, the ship ran aground, and the ship sank. Risk management is quite crucial in an effort to maintain pipeline safety. Failures in the pipeline can be avoided by conducting a risk analysis. This study aims to determine the level of risk that occurs in the pipeline and prepare risk control advice. The pipeline analyzed is an subsea pipeline located in the Terang Sirasun Batur Field (TSB). The Fishbone diagram was selected to identify factors and causes of subsea pipeline damage. Risk assessment is carried out using two methods, namely Traditional Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Fuzzy FMEA. In the Fuzzy FMEA analysis, two different fuzzy output rules are applied. From the results of calculations with traditional FMEA, it was found that the highest RPN of 144 was found in the failure mode of outside interference. Meanwhile, with fuzzy FMEA, the highest RPN of 9 and 6 lies in the failure mode of natural disasters. A risk matrix is compiled to determine the position of the failure zone. It was found that 10 failure modes lie in the ALARP zone and the other 3 are considered as acceptable risk.
