Abstract

In mature oil and gas fields, the use and selection of artificial lift methods is very important. Choosing the right artificial lift method is a must to get good artificial lift performance and avoid inefficient costs. The choice of artificial lift method in an oil field is very complex, there are many criteria and sub-criteria that influence and must be considered as well as many alternative choices that can be used as artificial lift. This research evaluates four alternative artificial lifts based on their characteristics by considering existing criteria in the form of benefits, costs and risks. Eighteen experts who are experts in the fields of production, petroleum engineering, work over, electrical, HSE and had experience in the X Field were asked to determine the sub-criteria that would be used in compiling the AHP hierarchy using the Delphi technique. Fuzzy AHP is used to rank existing alternatives. The results of the Fuzzy AHP evaluation show that in terms of benefit cost ratio ESP has the highest value, meaning that ESP is the best choice for X Field among other alternatives by considering the sub-criteria of the benefit criteria and cost criteria. Meanwhile, in terms of risk, ESP has the lowest value, meaning that ESP has the smallest risk compared to other alternatives by considering the sub-criteria of the risk criteria.
