Abstract

Polygon measurement is a method of measuring the horizontal framework commonly used in surveying and mapping. The precision of polygon measurements significantly impacts the accuracy of the resulting survey data. The Robotic Total Station, as a modern device used in measurements, provides high accuracy. This study aims to investigate and analyze errors in polygon measurements conducted using the Robotic Total Station. The methods used in processing polygon data are the Bowditch method and the least squares method. The results of this study provide information about the factors that can cause errors in polygon measurements and the precision of measurements using the Robotic Total Station. The research indicates that the error ellipse values produced by the Robotic Total Station are very small, with accuracy levels in the range of 10⁻²⁰ and 10⁻²¹. Additionally, the study shows that the size of the error ellipse increases with the distance from the control measurement point, in accordance with the measurement error theory which states that errors tend to increase as the observation point is farther from the control measurement point. The analysis of the coordinate differences in the polygon between the Bowditch method and the least squares method shows an average coordinate difference of 0.109 m in easting and 0.067 m in northing.
