Abstract

This research discusses the application of the Revised Multi-Choice Goal Programing (RMCGP) theory in the context of the coal mining industry, especially in the mining operational activities from upstream to downstream processes. The main focus is on coal production operations from PIT to ROM, crushing from ROM to Stockpile, barging coal from stockpile to mother vessel, until it reaches the customer. In this research, it was found that applying the Revised Multi-Choice Goal Programing (RMCGP) theory to coal mine operations can optimize expenditure minimization by considering various cost scenarios. Through this approach, Management as a decision-maker can minimize costs more optimally by considering factors such as transportation costs, storage and processing costs, management targets, and production losses, which can cause losses. This case study of a coal mining company that has just started mining activities illustrates the success of using this method in identifying targets that need to be achieved by eliminating unnecessary sources of costs and formulating strategies with lower cost minimization. The two goals of minimizing coal production transportation costs and minimizing port handling costs in four stages over ten periods have achieved optimal solutions and are fully satisfied because they meet the requirements of the Revised Multi-Choice Goal Programing model. Sensitivity analysis shows that in the future changes to the coal sales target each month, there will be changes in coal production transport costs and port handling costs.
