Abstract
Propelan double-base (DB) diaplikasikan pada Folding Fin Aerial Rocket (FFAR) yang melewati salah satu tahapan manufaktur berupa proses pengerolan yang dapat meningkatkan performanya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh temperatur dan jarak antar rol terhadap morfologi dan kadar zat cair pasta lembaran DB. Dalam penelitian ini, proses pengerolan propelan DB, yang juga disebut pasta basah NC/NG, dilakukan dengan variasi jarak antar rol (gap) (1, 2, dan 3 mm) serta temperatur rol (50, 60, dan 70 °C). Bahan nitroselulosa, nitrogliserin, etil sentralit, etil asetat, dibutil ftalat, dan akuades dilakukan proses pencampuran (mixing) untuk membentuk pasta NC/NG yang siap untuk di rol. Kemudian, proses pengerolan dilakukan dengan radius rol sebesar 22,5 mm, kecepatan putar rol sebesar 5 rpm dan 5 kali pengulangan rol. Hasil rol berupa pasta lembaran NC/NG dilakukan pengujian morfologi area pori dengan Scanning Electron Microscope, analisis gugus fungsional dengan Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, pengujian sisa kadar zat cair dengan gravimetri, pengujian kemampuan reduksi zat cair dengan menimbang selisih massa sebelum dan setelah pengerolan, pengujian nilai kalor dengan Bomb Calorimetry, dan stabilitas termal dengan Differential Scanning Calorymetry. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan parameter optimal untuk proses pengerolan pada jarak antar rol 1 mm dengan temperatur rol 60 °C. Pada parameter ini menghasilkan area pori 2,438%; kadar zat cair 27,97%; weigth loss zat cair 11,06 gr; nilai kalor 3076 kal/g; dan stabilitas termal pada 183,75 °C.

Double-base (DB) propellant is applied to the Folding Fin Aerial Rocket (FFAR) that goes through one of the manufacturing stages known as the rolling process, which can enhance its performance. This study aims to analyze the effect of temperature and roller gap distance on the morphology and liquid content of the DB sheet paste. In this research, the rolling process of the DB propellant, also referred to as wet NC/NG paste, was carried out with variations in roller gap distance (1, 2, and 3 mm) and roller temperature (50, 60, and 70 °C). The materials nitrocellulose, nitroglycerin, ethyl centralite, ethyl acetate, dibutyl phthalate, and distilled water were mixed to form an NC/NG paste ready for rolling. Then, the rolling process was conducted with a roller radius of 22.5 mm, a roller speed of 5 rpm, and 5 repetitions. The rolled NC/NG sheet paste was then tested for pore area morphology using a Scanning Electron Microscope, functional group analysis with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, residual liquid content with gravimetry, liquid reduction capability by weighing the mass difference before and after rolling, calorific value with Bomb Calorimetry, and thermal stability with Differential Scanning Calorimetry. The results of this study provide optimal parameters for the rolling process at a roller gap distance of 1 mm with a roller temperature of 60 °C. Under these parameters, the outcomes were a pore area of 2.438%; liquid content of 27.97%; liquid weight loss of 11.06 grams; calorific value of 3076 cal/g; and thermal stability at 183.75 °C.
