Abstract

Mining Geology is one of the study programs provided by Indonesian vocational schools that explores surface mining. Mining involves working in hazardous environments with various risks. The most common cause of mining accidents was mechanical failure, involving the use of heavy equipment. Thus, it is necessary to increase the knowledge of heavy equipment safety for the vocational students. However, heavy equipment is costly and requires proper inspection and routine maintenance which needs high financial allocation for schools. Moreover, many vocational schools still use traditional learning media that cannot provide an immersive experience in learning. Therefore, this study developed an immersive and engaging virtual reality (VR)-based learning media for heavy equipment safety. The validity and feasibility of the learning media contents were evaluated by experts. The result concluded that the contents presented are valid and have good quality and effectiveness. Moreover, the learning media was tested in the learning process and the usability was assessed by vocational students. The results concluded that the learning media demonstrates significant potential to improve the educational experience in vocational schools, leading to better learning outcomes and increased student engagement.

Geologi Pertambangan merupakan salah satu program studi yang disediakan oleh Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) di Indonesia yang mendalami penambangan yang dilakukan di permukaan atau dekat permukaan tanah. Penambangan melibatkan pekerjaan di lingkungan berbahaya dengan berbagai risiko. Penyebab paling umum dari kecelakaan penambangan adalah kecelakaan yang melibatkan penggunaan alat berat. Maka, perlu adanya peningkatan pengetahuan tentang keselamatan alat berat pada siswa SMK. Namun, alat berat sangat mahal dan memerlukan pemeliharaan yang tepat dan rutin sehingga memerlukan alokasi keuangan yang besar untuk sekolah. Selain itu, banyak SMK yang masih menggunakan media pembelajaran tradisional sehingga belum bisa memberikan pengalaman pembelajaran yang mendalam. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini mengembangkan media pembelajaran berbasis virtual reality (VR) yang imersif dan menarik untuk keselamatan alat berat. Validitas dan kelayakan isi materi pembelajaran dievaluasi oleh ahli. Hasil evaluasi dapat disimpulkan bahwa materi yang disajikan valid dan memiliki kualitas serta efektivitas yang baik. Selain itu,media pembelajaran diuji dalam proses pembelajaran dan dinilai kegunaannya oleh siswa SMK. Hasil penilaian dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran menunjukkan potensi yang signifikan untuk meningkatkan pengalaman pendidikan di sekolah kejuruan, sehingga menghasilkan hasil pembelajaran yang lebih baik dan
meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa.
