Abstract
In recent years, the global warming caused by high greenhouse gas emissions has been increasing the temperature in Earth. The industrial exhaust gases contain up to 15% CO2 which is one of major source of greenhouse gas emissions. The reducing of fossil fuels use and applying the CO2 capture technology were done for reducing CO2 level in the air. In addition, the use of microalgae is considered as one of the effective ways to fix CO2 because of their CO2- fixation efficiency (CO2 conversion to organic compounds) which is about 10– 50 times faster than that of terrestrial plants [1]. Microalgae contain carotenoids (α-, β- carotene, lutein, astaxanthin, chlorophyll, and zeaxanthin), lipids (Free Fatty Acid, triglyceride), proteins, etc. which are useful for human nutrition products, cosmetic, pharmacy products and as biofuels raw materials. These facts ensure that microalgae culture and their exploitation seem to be important. Dunaliella salina is one of the microalgae having high value molecules content. The Salinalgue Project (France) has been exploiting Dunaliella salina for many purposes. This project is the biggest European project involving industrial sectors such as GDF SUEZ, TOTAL, AIR LIQUIDE and many academic partner (IFREMER, INRIA, LISBP, LM2P2, GREEN laboratory, etc). The LM2P2 has been taking a part in this project, especially for conducting extraction process using supercritical extraction with CO2.
