Abstract

The port is one of the company's vital infrastructures used for the distribution of raw materials and finished products. The main activityat the port is the loading and unloading process. Conveyor as one of the equipment used in the loading and unloading process often occurs damage to the spare parts in it. The spare part maintenance strategy on the conveyor is carried out based on two strategies, namely preventive maintenance and replacement. The replacement strategy is used for idler or roll spare parts. The problem faced by fertilizer companies is the stockout of roll spare parts so that the replacement process cannot be carried out and results in low service level achievement. The main cause of stockout problems in spare parts is the absence of an inventory control policy system and spare part demand that fluctuates and has a lumpy or intermittent demand pattern. Therefore, an inventory control policy design is carried out on roll spare parts. In this study, ABC classification and classification of demand patterns using ADI-CV calculations were carried out to determine the demand pattern for roll spare parts. Inventory parameters are then calculated using the periodic review policy (R, s, S) and can-order policy (s, c, S). Monte Carlo simulation is used to accommodate the uncertainty of demand for roll spare parts. Based on the simulations performed, both periodic review policy and can-order policy have resulted in better values than the existing conditions. The periodic review policy results in an average service level value of 96.73% and total inventory costs for all roll spare parts of Rp187.040.087 with a cost reduction of 31.56% from the existing condition. The can-order policy results in an average service level value of 96.97% and total inventory costs for all roll spare parts of Rp156.739.772 with a cost reduction of 42.65% from the existing conditions. From these results, the two improvement conditions, the periodic review policy and the can-order policy, have reached a service level above 95%, so that the selection of the best improvement condition is considered from the lowest inventory cost, which is the can-order policy.
