Abstract

Specific Growth Rate berat terbaik memiliki nilai 1,76 %BW/day dan Specific Growth Rate panjang terbaik dengan nilai 4,9 %BL/day.

Catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is one of the most widely cultivated fish species because it is widely consumed by Indonesians. However, catfish farming faces some issues and one of which is the slow growth. Some literature sources mention that the quantity of enzymes in the digestive tract can optimize catfish growth. One way to solve this problem is probiotics that can produce digestive enzymes. Previous research has found that Weissella confusa JCM 1093 has the capacity to produce protease enzymes. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effect of adding W. confusa on growth performance (absolute growth and specific growth rate). The experiment was conducted by culturing catfish for 37 days and fed with W. confusa-supplemented feed at 3 (three) different doses (104, 106, and 108 cfu/mL). The results showed that the best absolute growth (weight and length) and specific growth rate (weight and length) were obtained from treatment K2 (106 cfu/mL) with an absolute length growth of 5.27 cm and absolute weight growth of 11.47 gr. In addition, the best SGR (weight) was 1.76 %BW/day and the best SGR (length) was 4,9%BL/day. This study also indicated that the inclusion of W. confusa at 106.
