Abstract

Surabaya is located on an active fault that triggers large earthquakes, namely the Kendeng Fault and the Waru Fault which divides Surabaya City into 2 parts, north and south with a maximum magnitude of 6.5 SR. Due to the disaster-prone geography, it is necessary to conduct research on mitigation and analysis of ground response in the region using seismic methods, namely the MASW method or Multichannel Analysis of Surface Wave used to obtain disperse curves. This curve aims to provide an explanation of the distribution of Rayleigh wave phase velocity in the subsurface based on the distribution of its frequency with depth. Meanwhile, the HVSR or Horizontal to Vertical Spectral Ratio method is used to characterize the soil structure and estimate the soil susceptibility index. Through the Joint Inversion on method of the dispersion curve and the HVSR curve, a 1D shear wave velocity (Vs) model was obtained that shows 3 layers in the area of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya. The first layer shows a Vs of 74,10 m/s, the second layer of 75,66 m/s and the third layer of 259,98 m/s with the same density of 1800 km/m3. The results of the inversion of HVSR dispersion and Rayleigh waves using HVInv were inaccurate because the inversion model of HVSR and the dispersion curve were quite different due to differences in sensitivity to subsurface structures, and different model assumptions for the HVSR curve.
