Abstract

As technology has developed this makes the need for oil and gas has increased. To meet the needs of oil and gas it is necessary to do exploration and exploitations. One of the infrastructures that need to support this activity is the pipeline system. However, given the environmental conditions around the pipe installation, subsea pipelines often fail. Corrosion and cracking are failures that are often encountered in subsea pipelines. One type of corrosion that often occurs in pipes is pitting corrosion, this corrosion attacks the pipe by spreading to the inside of the pipe so that if it is left unchecked it causes degradation of wall thickness. The impact of degradation of wall thickness can cause gas leakage or even explosion. If the internal pressure in the pipe exceeds the allowable internal pressure limit, burst pressure will occur. Therefore it is necessary to evaluate the safe pressure on the corroded pipe. In addition, by conducting this evaluation, the minimum distance between two corrosions can also be known so that no interaction occurs. The results of the distance analysis obtained for corrosion with different corrosion depths of 1.908 mm, 2.862 mm, 4.77 mm, and 5.724 mm are 28.62 mm, 38.16 mm, 57.24 mm, and 105.94 mm, respectively. In addition, the burst pressure value is influenced by several factors, including the distance between the two corrosion and the depth of corrosion. From the analysis, it is found that the farther the distance between the two corrodes, the more it will increase, on the contrary, the deeper the corrosion, the burst pressure value will decrease.
