Abstract
Inventory is a key component of a company that has economic value and operational function to increase performance during business operation. In petrochemical plants, the
material types that are put in the inventory are spare parts. Spare parts are used as a tool to support petrochemical activities such as machine maintenance, machine unit repair, and as a backup for future demands. When managing spare parts inventory, it is essential to have a suitable ordering policy to minimize the total cost of holding and ordering and increase the efficiency of material ordering. As the number of spare parts demands cannot be predicted, the number of order taken for each type of material differs and causes problem in higher cost conducting for an order. The inventory order policy method used in this final project consists of the existing Min-Max method and proposed Joint Order method, where Joint order will be calculated based on the frequency of ordering by the company. The result of this final project is the comparison between the existing method and proposed Joint Ordering method which has given the reduction of total inventory cost for 48% with value of Rp3.806.508,39.
