Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the potential for
molds isolates in degrading bag plastics. Molds isolates used
were Gliomastix sp.2 (LM 1020), Fusarium sp. (LM 1018), and
Mortierella sp. (LM 1021).
Samples degraded plastic that will consist of 2 types of
plastic, which is a white plastic bag with a thickness of 0.2 mm
and plastic grocery bags "I" that is thinner than regular plastic.
Each plastic cut to size 12x2cm. Then incubated for 35 days at 2
different types of liquid medium.
Plastic mass reduction in degradation test showed
different degradation percentage, depending on the type of
plastic, isolates, and the medium used. Degradation values were
tested by ANOVA followed by Dunnet test level of 95%. In the
basal medium 1, the highest degradation rate on plastic "I" by
isolates Gliomastix sp.2 (LM 1020) of 5.09%. In regular plastic
degradation highest value by Fusarium sp. (LM 1018) 0.96%.
While the basal medium 2, isolates that have the highest potential
to degrade plastic "I" and regular plastic is Gliomastix sp.2 (LM
1020), the plastic "I" by (3.75%) and 0.47% is regular plastic .
