Abstract
Target Indonesia dalam pengurangan emisi karbon menjadi 31,89% di tahun 2030 meningkatkan produksi baterai sehingga masalah baru dalam hal ini adalah pencemaran limbah B3 salah satunya ion kadmium terlarut dalam air. Semakin bertumbuhnya jumlah industri penghasil limbah kadmium, maka pencemaran pada air pun meningkat. Oleh karena itu, sebelum menuju ke sistem pengelolaan air yang tercemar kadmium, maka sistem deteksi kadmium perlu dikembangkan lebih lanjut. Metode deteksi kadmium berbasis serat optik struktur SMS berlapis kitosan telah dirancang pada penelitian ini. Kitosan dipilih sebagai sensitive material karena kitosan dapat menyerap logam berat dengan baik. Sensor serat optik SMS tanpa lapisan dan berlapis kitosan 1% hingga 5% diukur pada larutan kadmium dengan variasi konsentrasi kadmium 0 ppm hingga 0,004 ppm. Karakterisasi dilakukan menggunakan dua basis metode, yakni berbasis spektrum transmisi dan daya keluaran. Pengujian berbasis spektrum transmisi menggunakan Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA) dan menggunakan sumber cahaya broadband 83437A dengan panjang gelombang 1550 nm. Hasil pengujian ini menunjukkan bahwa tiap – tiap variasi coating menunjukkan adanya pergeseran panjang gelombang ke arah kiri (blueshifting) tiap penambahan konsentrasi kadmium. Adapun nilai puncak panjang gelombang yang paling mendekati dengan panjang gelombang sumber cahaya tersebut adalah nilai dari sensor dengan coating 4% yakni 1548,79 nm – 1545,57 nm. Sedangkan untuk pengujian berbasis daya keluaran dilakukan menggunakan Optical Light Source (OLS) dan detektor OPM. Hasil dari pengujian berbasis daya keluaran didapatkan bahwa serat optik SMS dengan coating kitosan 3% adalah yang paling optimal untuk pengukuran ion logam berat kadmium dengan sensitivitas 1,040 dBm/ppm dengan koefisien korelasi atau linieritas sebesar 0,9932

Indonesia's target of reducing carbon emissions to 31.89% in 2030 is to increase battery production so that the new problem in this case is B3 waste pollution, one of which is cadmium ions dissolved in water. As the number of industries producing cadmium waste grows, water pollution also increases. Therefore, before proceeding to a system for managing water contaminated with cadmium, the cadmium detection system needs to be developed further. A cadmium detection method based on fiber optic chitosan-coated SMS structures has been designed in this research. Chitosan was chosen as a sensitive material because chitosan can absorb heavy metals well. SMS fiber optic sensors without coating and coated with 1% to 5% chitosan were measured in cadmium solutions with varying cadmium concentrations from 0 ppm to 0.004 ppm. Characterization was carried out using two basic methods, namely transmission spectrum and output power. Transmission spectrum-based testing uses an Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA) and uses a broadband light source 83437A with a wavelength of 1550 nm. The results of this test show that each coating variation shows a wavelength shift to the left (blueshifting) with each additional cadmium concentration. The peak wavelength value closest to the wavelength of the light source is the value of the sensor with 4% coating, namely 1548.79 nm – 1545.57 nm. Meanwhile, output power-based testing is carried out using an Optical Light Source (OLS) and an OPM detector. The results of output power-based testing showed that SMS optical fiber with 3% chitosan coating was the most optimal for measuring the heavy metal ion cadmium with a sensitivity of 1.040 dBm/ppm with a correlation coefficient or linearity of 0.9932
