Abstract

Banten 3 Lontar Power Plant is one of the power plants in Indonesia under the management of PT. PLN Indonesia Power to supply electricity to the Java-Bali island. One of the problems that occur at Banten 3 Lontar Power Plant is sedimentation. Sedimentation in the navigation channel within the jetty basin can disrupt the coal loading and unloading process. Therefore, the author conducted this final project research to analyze the installation of an underwater sill to hinder the rate of sedimentation, thereby reducing the costs associated with maintenance dredging due to the decreased volume of sediment to be dredged. This research uses numerical methods with the help of MIKE 21 software to determine the hydrodynamic conditions. The research was conducted under three conditions: the existing condition before the underwater sill was built, the condition after the underwater sill was built with a semicircular configuration, and the condition after the underwater sill was built with a rectangular configuration. Before modeling sediment transport, data validation for tides and currents was performed using the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) method with a high degree of accuracy. The results showed that, compared to the existing conditions before the underwater sill was built, there was a reduction in sediment volume of 29,068.02 m3 by constructing a rectangular underwater sill with a length of 300 m. Additionally, the costs incurred for the next 20 years were reduced by IDR 9.571.295.473.
