Abstract

This research aims to analyze and evaluate the performance of the photovoltaic water pump system. The use of photovoltaics as a source of electricity for pumping water is considered one of the most promising areas of application of photovoltaics. The efficiency of a photovoltaic pumping system depends on several climate factors such as solar radiation and cell temperature. The efficiency of the photovoltaic pump system is obtained by calculating the efficiency of each subsystem (photovoltaic, DC-DC converter, and motor-pump). This research was carried out with the help of National Instruments CVI software by calculating the efficiency of a data logger of more than 700 secondary data results from testing the photovoltaic water pump system in one day. In general, system efficiency is more sensitive to solar irradiation than cell temperature. From the analysis and evaluation that has been carried out, the overall performance of the photovoltaic pump system is not optimal because the average efficiency is 7.5%. System performance can be said to be optimal if it reaches 8-60% efficiency for DC pumps. The efficiency of the photovoltaic pump system is not optimal because all individual components in the system do not function optimally at the same time. Apart from that, to make it easier to analyze system performance, you can use data grouping in CVI software by sorting the data in order of largest to smallest and then grouping other data variables that are at the same time. The system's greatest efficiency is 8.12% and the smallest efficiency is 0.28%.
