Abstract

Climate change has pushed rapid technological advances to reduce CO2 emissions. This can be seen by innovations in the transportation sector such as electric vehicles as well as G2V and V2G technology. The technology involves a DC-DC converter, which is a power electronics circuit that converts the DC to DC with different output voltage. Generally, the type of converter that used is a half-bridge bidirectional buck-boost converter. However, there are disadvantages in using those conventional DC converters such as low voltage gain and high current ripples. So, further research is needed for the development of more efficient converter technology like floating interleaved bidirectional buck-boost DC-DC converter. The buck-boost converter system is used to convert the electrical voltage so that it matches the source and load rating. The converter uses a bidirectional topology so that electricity can flow in both directions, namely the flow of V2G and G2V currents. Floating interleaved bidirectional buck-boost DC-DC converter circuit applies an interleaved topology, so that the electrical power has low current ripples. In addition, floating interleaved bidirectional buck-boost DC-DC converter can also improve voltage gain. In this final project, the design and simulation of the floating interleaved bidirectional buck-boost DC-DC converter will be carried out as well as the analysis of the simulation results along with conventional bidirectional buck-boost converter for comparison. The results show that floating bidirectional buck-boost DC-DC converter have lower current ripples and higher voltage ratio is than that of conventional bidirectional buck-boost converters. The efficiency produced by the floating interleaved bidirectional buck-boost DC-DC converter is 94.32% in buck mode and 95.75% in boost mode.
