Abstract

The existence of pedestrian paths in commercial areas creates a perspective among people where walking while shopping on pedestrian paths in these areas has become one of the main tourist attractions in urban life. Providing pedestrian paths in good quality is very necessary to accommodate pedestrian mobility in commercial areas so that they can carry out their activities safely and comfortably. The pedestrian path along Jalan Sunan Kalijogo connects the commercial area and the GOR public space which can be an attraction for the to use this path as a walking activity while shopping and recreation safely and comfortably. However, the problem of noise levels that exceed the threshold has the impact of reducing the quality of pedestrian paths. Another problem is the inadequate physical condition of pedestrian paths and conflicts between pedestrians and motorized vehicles and street vendors. Therefore, there is a need for studies in the form of directions to improve the quality of pedestrian paths in the commercial area of Jalan Sunan Kalijogo, Tuban Regency. To achieve the research objectives, 4 targets were formulated. The first target is to analyze the variables that influence improving the quality of pedestrian paths in the commercial area of Jalan Sunan Kalijogo using the content analysis method on interview data with stakeholders and produces 21 influential variables. The results of the first target were then used for the second target, which is assessing the quality of pedestrian paths in the research area using the pedestrian path quality assessment index and resulting in a quality score of 54,95 (average pedestrian path quality). The results of the first target were also used for the third target to analyze 100 data on public perception regarding the level of importance and level of performance of pedestrian paths in the research area using the importance performance analysis technique, the result was that 9 priority variables were obtained to improve the quality of their performance. The results of the second and third targets will be used to formulate directions for improving the quality of pedestrian paths using qualitative descriptive analysis and triangulation validation. The final output obtained is 14 formulated directions for improving the quality of pedestrian paths in the commercial area of Jalan Sunan Kalijogo.
