Abstract

Panel surya berfungsi mengubah energi matahari menjadi energi listrik, namun debu dan temperature tinggi dapat mempengaruhi efisiensi penyerapan energinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang sistem Automatic Cooling and Cleaning System Spray Water untuk PLTS On-Grid Roof-Top 3,5 kWp Departemen Teknik Instrumentasi Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, dengan fokus pada penyemprotan air sebagai solusi untuk pengotoran dan kenaikan temperature panel surya. Sistem ini menggunakan sensor submersible dan solenoid valve yang dikendalikan oleh PLC Siemens S7-1200 untuk mengatur pengisian dan mengetahui penggunaan air secara efisien. Dilengkapi dengan human interface, sistem ini memungkinkan pemantauan dan pengaturan mode operasi, baik otomatis maupun manual. Implementasi sistem di PLTS 3,5 kWp di area parkir Departemen Teknik Instrumentasi, ITS, menunjukkan peningkatan efisiensi operasional. Sistem ini berhasil menurunkan temperature permukaan panel dari 50˚C – 52˚C menjadi 36˚C – 37˚C, meningkatkan output daya listrik sebesar 18,74% ketika dilengkapi dengan spray water dibandingkan tanpa menggunakan spray water. Konsumsi air untuk enam panel surya dengan luas total 14,52 m² selama durasi 30 detik spray water adalah 1,472 liter. Dengan teknologi ini, diharapkan dapat mengurangi beban kerja manusia dalam pemeliharaan, serta mendukung pembangunan berkelanjutan melalui optimalisasi penyerapan energi pada PLTS.

Solar panels convert solar energy into electricity, but dust and high temperatures can affect their energy absorption efficiency. This research aims to design an Automatic Cooling and Cleaning System Spray Water for a 3.5 kWp On-Grid Rooftop PV System at the Department of Instrumentation Engineering, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, focusing on water spraying as a solution to panel contamination and temperature rise. The system uses a submersible sensor and solenoid valve controlled by a Siemens S7-1200 PLC to manage water filling and monitor water usage efficiently. Equipped with a human interface, the system allows for monitoring and setting operational modes, both automatic and manual. Implementation of the system in the 3.5 kWp PV system at the Instrumentation Engineering Department parking area at ITS showed improved operational efficiency. The system successfully reduced the panel surface temperature from 50˚C – 52˚C to 36˚C – 37˚C, increasing electrical power output by 18.74% when equipped with spray water compared to without using spray water. The water consumption for six solar panels with a total area of 14.52 m² over a 30-second spray duration is 1.472 liters. This technology is expected to reduce human maintenance workload and support sustainable development by optimizing energy absorption in PV systems.
