Abstract

Indonesia, with a population of 272.23 million as of June 2021 and a Muslim majority of 231 million by 2023, has an urgent need for halal products and services in accordance with Islamic legal principles. The Halal Study Center at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) was established to provide comprehensive information on halal products and to raise public awareness. The ITS Halal Study Center collaborates with the Directorate of Technology Development and Information Systems ITS and students from the Department of Informatics ITS to develop an Augmented Reality (AR) based halal dining navigation application that assists Muslims in finding certified halal dining locations. Additionally, they support the Ministry of Religious Affairs' self-declare Halal Certification program by targeting 1,000 halal certifications for SMEs. The use of information technology is seen as a solution to accelerate and facilitate the halal certification process. In this final project, a web-based Halal Augmented Reality Information System (SIAR) application is developed using the Next.js framework, comprising the SI-AR module for AR-based navigation and the SI-Matching module to assist SMEs in finding Halal Product Process Companions (PPH). Supporting modules such as Gamification and SI-Surga Kuliner are added to enhance user attention and engagement. With this approach, the SIAR application not only serves as a navigation and self-declare assistance tool but also as an educational and entertaining platform that strengthens public awareness of the importance of halal products.
