Abstract

The world of transportation continues to evolve over time, following the rapid advancement of technology. One such form of development is electric bicycles, which are becoming increasingly popular in Indonesia. The use of electric bicycles has increased in recent years. However, this growth has also been accompanied by an increase in traffic accidents involving electric bicycle users. One of the main factors causing this is risky riding behavior. Risky riding behavior refers to actions that increase the likelihood of an accident or riding failure. This study aims to identify factors that influence risky riding behavior and compare two models in two areas in East Java, namely the Rungkut (Surabaya) and Situbondo areas, which represent two different administrative regions in East Java. Partial Least Square Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) method was used in this study to analyze the relationship of six factors that influence risky riding behavior. 53 respondents resided in Rungkut and 49 respondents resided in Situbondo. The difference lies in three hypothesis decisions, namely related to the relationship of risk perception to risky riding behavior, the relationship of riding confidence to risky riding behavior, and the relationship of safety knowledge to safety attitude. Safety knowledge is a crucial factor in both regions. Recommendations are given to e-bike riders, government, policies, and e-bike companies to protect the safety of e-bike riders and other riders.
