Abstract
Saat ini Indonesia masih mengimpor garam industri dalam jumlah besar untuk memenuhi kebutuhan berbagai sektor industri dalam negri, salah satunya industri makanan. Pada tahun 2023, Indonesia mengimpor garam industri aneka pangan sebanyak 1,5 juta ton dan volume impor ini diprediksi akan terus meningkat. Bahan baku dari garam industri ini adalah garam rakyat yang ketersediannya sangat melimpah di Indonesia. Terdapat tiga unit dan dalam pabrik garam industri antara lain unit pemurnian bahan baku, unit penguapan dan pengkristalan, dan unit pengendalian produk. Pada unit pemurnian bahan baku, garam rakyat yang memiliki kadar NaCl sebesar 88% dilarutkan menggunakan air proses menjadi larutan garam. Larutan akan difilter untuk memisahkan komponen-komponen pengotor pada garam rakyat. Setelah dipisahkan dari impuritis, ditambahkan KIO3 pada larutan garam sebagai syarat garam industri aneka pangan. Larutan kemudian dimasukkan ke unit penguapan dan pengeringan, dimana proses pembentukan kristal garam akan terjadi di dalam crystallizer. Kristal kemudian masuk ke dalam unit pengeringan dan pengendalian produk, dimana kristal kristal tersebut akan dikeringkan menggunakan rotary dryer. Kristal garam memiliki kemurnian di atas 99% setelah proses pengeringan selesai dan ukurannya akan dikecilkan
dengan ball mill hingga menjadi 50 mesh.
Pabrik garam ini memiliki kapasitas produksi sebesar 200.000 ton/tahun dengan waktu operasi 330 hari kerja. Diperlukan total modal tetap (FCI) sebesar Rp1.648.138.154.480,42 Modal kerja (WCI) sebesar Rp 290.847.909.614,19 ; Modal total (TCI) sebesar Rp 1.938.986.094,62 ; Total biaya produksi per tahun (TPC) sebesar Rp 613.827.579.788,95 Dengan estimasi penjualan per tahun sebesar Rp. 1.200.000.000.000 akan diperoleh nilai IRR 14,69 %; Waktu pengembalian modal (POT) 6,1 tahun; dan NPV positif sebesar Rp 181.856.568.835,75 yang menunjukkan bahwa pabrik garam ini layak untuk didirikan.

Indonesia currently relies heavily on imported industrial salt to meet the needs of various domestic industries, particularly the food industry. In 2023, Indonesia imported 1.5 million tons of industrial food-grade salt, and this volume is projected to continue increasing. The raw material for industrial salt is common salt, which is abundantly available in Indonesia. Industrial salt production facilities typically consist of three units: raw material purification, evaporation and crystallization, and product control. In the raw material purification unit, common salt with an NaCl content of 88% is dissolved in process water to form a brine solution. The solution is then filtered to remove impurities from the common salt.After separation from
impurities, KIO3 is added to the brine solution as a requirement for industrial food-grade salt. The solution is then fed into the evaporation and drying unit, where the crystal formation process takes place in a crystallizer. The crystals then move to the drying and product control unit, where they are dried using a rotary dryer. The salt crystals have a purity of over 99% after the drying process is complete, and their size is reduced to 50 mesh using a ball mill.
The proposed pharmaceutical salt plant has a production capacity of 200,000 tons/year and operates 330 days per year. The total fixed capital investment (FCI) is estimated to be Rp 1,648,138,154,480.42; working capital (WCI) is Rp 290,847,909,614.19; total capital investment (TCI) is Rp 1,938,986,094,62; and total annual production cost (TPC) is Rp 613.827.579.788,95 With an estimated annual sales of Rp 1,200,000,000,000, the project is expected to generate an internal rate of return (IRR) of 14.67%, a payback period (POT) of 6.1 years, and a positive net present value (NPV) of Rp 181,856,568,835.22. These figures indicate that the establishment of a pharmaceutical salt plant is financially viable.
