Abstract

This research aims to develop a monitoring dashboard for equipment operating in the headroom of the ITS Instrumentation Engineering Department. This system is designed to overcome the shortcomings in knowing the operating equipment based on current and voltage inputs which have only been monitored in groups based on energy user groups, namely air conditioners, lights, and equipment connected to sockets. This research designs an expert system to identify equipment operating in each energy user group. The important components in designing this expert system are the database and reasoning engine. By utilizing an expert system, this research involves capturing current and voltage data from each appliance individually. This data is then stored in a database that serves as a knowledge base. The reasoning engine will match the received current and voltage input data with the knowledge base to identify the equipment in operation. Then, the results of the data matching will provide conclusions in the form of which equipment status is operating in each energy user group and displayed on the dashboard. The test results in this study show that the expert system-based dashboard can display the operational status of air conditioners, lights, and equipment connected to the socket. The dashboard can display which air conditioners are on or not (because there is only one air conditioner), display which lights are on (from six existing switches), and display what equipment is connected to the socket. This system provides information to assist in more efficient energy management in the room. Thus, this research succeeded in providing a more detailed equipment monitoring solution based on current and voltage input data received by the server compared to previous systems that were only able to monitor energy usage in groups.
