Abstract

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) is an organization established on July 26, 1975 in Jakarta, with the purpose of its establishment to guide, foster, and protect Muslims in Indonesia. MUI becomes the authority in every religious and moral issue in Indonesia, by issuing fatwa, guidelines or decisions that have passed the process of deliberation by scholars, zu'ama, and Muslim scholars. The building of MUI East Java Province, which is located in Surabaya, also plays an important role in the running of the organization. MUI JATIM faces challenges in creating a good image of Islamic organization and lack of public trust on the Islamic value owned by MUI. This is because MUI has various services that require public trust so that every decision and fatwa can be well received by the community. Therefore, a solution was found through the Design Thinking method regarding the existing problems with the concept of Islamic Identity as a form of application of Islamic values that exist in every aspect of the building interior. With the application of Islamic identity that is sourced from the Quran, hadith, and Muslim scholars, it will increase public confidence in the truth of MUI's decisions and fatwas through an Islamic visual space that reflects MUI as an Indonesian Islamic organization.
