Abstract

Ankle injuries are among the most common injuries in BMX sports. This study aims to develop a design for BMX Street shoes that enhances athlete performance by integrating aesthetic and functional elements, and to raise awareness in the BMX street community about the importance of proper foot protection and support to reduce the risk of injury. The methodology used in this study includes experimentation, analysis of existing products, and benchmarking. Experiments were conducted to test the effectiveness of the shoe design in reducing the risk of ankle injuries. Analysis of existing products was done to examine the design of BMX Street shoes currently available in the market. Benchmarking was conducted to compare the developed shoe design with existing BMX shoe designs in the market. The results show that the developed shoe design can effectively reduce the risk of ankle injuries. This shoe design combines aesthetic and functional elements, and is equipped with an ankle strap that provides better protection and support for the ankle. This research is expected to increase the BMX community's awareness of the importance of proper foot protection and support in reducing the risk of injury.
